William H. Taylor School's Guiding Principles
Mission Statement
We
are committed to developing a community of learners who are
academically proficient, demonstrate strong character and exhibit
self-confidence.
Vision Statement
In
order to insure educational excellence and equity, William H. Taylor
School will prepare all its students to thrive in the technology
intense, ever-changing global society of the future. William H. Taylor
School students will progress through the system and develop the skills
that allow them to become flexible thinkers and problem solvers who will
cherish and respect all human persity.
These elementary school
experiences will nurture a cooperative spirit that will provide
meaningful training and prepare our students for future educational and
co-curricular activities. It is hoped that students will become active
participants in their communities and fully informed citizens who
are able to take advantage of the many opportunities that come their
way, and who understand that learning is a lifelong
process.
Belief Statements
We
believe all students can learn and achieve in a safe, disciplined
environment in which they feel trusted, supported and have a sense of
belonging.
We believe students learn best when they are actively
engaged in meaningful and challenging work, integrating technology where
appropriate. We believe students need to come to school prepared and
ready to take an active role in their learning.
We believe students
need a classroom environment that encourages active participation in all
academic areas and reduces fear of failure.
We believe that we must be creative, energetic visionaries, who respond quickly to perse and evolving issues.
